Rising Unemployment and Inflation

According to numbers released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) this week, Turkey's unemployment rate has jumped to 14 percent, a 3 percent increase from last year. Of course, the unemployment rate is probably much higher given Turkey's large informal sector and that several Turks have simply given up attempting to find work. TUIK reports unemployment rates are even higher among ban populations and youth. TurksStat also released numbers of inflation, which has risen dramatically in the past few. According to TurkStat, among European countries Turkey had the highest consumer price index.
